SUMMARY:UTAH OPERA | Mason Bates & Mark Campbell's The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, May 8\, 2027\n7:30 PM \nMonday\, May 10\, 2027\n7:00 PM \nWednesday\, May 12\, 2027\n7:00 PM \nFriday\, May 14\, 2027\n7:30 PM \nSunday\, May 16\, 2027\n2:00 PM \n_____ \nStrive toward the future. Learn from the past. The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs feels as epic and fresh as the release of the first-gen iPhone in 2007. \nInspired by the man behind the devices you use every day\, Mark Campbell and Mason Bates’ GRAMMY®-winning one-act production explores the complex life\, ambition\, and spiritual searching of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs in a gripping theatrical experience. Themes of connection and disconnection unfold through the signature “Symphonic Electronica” style of composer Mason Bates (who moonlights as a DJ and recently premiered a runaway hit at The Metropolitan Opera\, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay). In the orchestra pit\, the Utah Symphony intertwines with pulsing electronic beats\, ambient soundscapes\, and other digitally inspired textures that mirror the world Jobs helped create. It’s no wonder this Utah Opera re-release has been in demand since 2022! \nComposer: Mason Bates\nLibrettist: Mark Campbell\nLanguage: English with English supertitles\nRuntime: Approximately 1 hr 40 min\nRating: Rated PG-13 for casual drug use and brief references to sexual activity and abortion \nThis production is jointly owned by Utah Symphony | Utah Opera\, The Atlanta Opera\, Austin Opera\, Lyric Opera of Kansas City\, and Calgary Opera Association. Scenery constructed by The Lyric Opera of Kansas City. Properties constructed by The Atlanta Opera Production Studio. Costumes coordinated by The Atlanta Opera Costume Studio.
